Embracing the beauty of nature The Philosophy of the ZillergrundRock and the Story of the Ziller Elf

Have you heard about the legend of the Ziller Elf? A story we heard for the very first time a few years ago became part of our vision. It's a story about a small but powerful Ziller Elf. You can read a short version of the legend by clicking on the title below.

ZillergrundRock

An unusual and elegant name. How did we come to this idea you ask? As a "Rock" – a strong rock in the surf – we welcome you with unique hospitality and loving service. The usual cordial hospitality is also represented by our "rock" grandmother, Frieda, and by our whole ZillergrundRock team. Why ZillergrundRock? We say: a little Rock'n'Roll is good for all of us! And we want to rock the future with you!

The story of the Ziller Elf

Once upon a time, in a land where humans treated nature with great disrespect, the townspeople cut down trees, dug into mountains, polluted the rivers and destroyed all the forests. The animals that lived there had no choice but to flee. Some birds took shelter in a cave, where they discovered a magical elf.

The elf offered her hair as a place of shelter for the birds. However, when smog from the valley drifted in, the elf began to lose her powers. Determined to save their new friend, the birds decided to fly with her, far away from the valley, to a place called Zillergrund.

Zillergrund was a magical land where the air was fresh, the Ziller River was clear and there was a breathtaking view of the Brandberger Kolm, and in this place the elf was healed. The people of Zillergrund were loving, helpful and wise, only taking from nature what they needed. One of these kind locals was named Stanis Pfister, who grew very close to the elf and decided to build her a home.

This home became a sanctuary for friends of nature and people in need of relaxation. The elf, grateful to Stanis, promised that every guest would feel an unparalleled sense of happiness and contentment as soon as they entered the home. The view of the mountains would help relieve the sorrows of aging, and the gentle ripple of the Ziller River would be music to their ears.

And so, the elf and Stanis Pfister created a haven together, where nature and humanity lived in perfect harmony and where happiness and peace were always within reach.

The history and vision of the Zillergrund

What began as a small home has grown bigger over decades. The rural inn grew into the Mountain Aktiv Relax Hotel – a resort in the mountains for nature-conscious people, sports lovers, foodies and families with a sense for authenticity, and all that only in five generations. A drive for innovation, a strong connection to nature and a down-to-earth attitude are what describes us best.

Finally, our idea of the new ZillergrundRock luxury mountain resort became a reality. Then and now we dedicate ourselves to the promise of the Ziller Elf. It is our vision that every guest will be overwhelmed with happiness and will feel complete satisfaction upon arrival. Everyday stress will melt away, the ripple from the Ziller will soothe the soul and the power of nature will captivate – with the Ziller Elf’s magic embedded in every nook and cranny of this unique resort.

The philosophy of the ZillergrundRock

Our goal is to evoke the beauty of nature – even through our architectural design. At once sustainable and economical, the one-of-a-kind architecture of our mountain luxury resort was inspired by the world’s most beautiful bridge – the world-famous Schlegeisspeicher suspension bridge. This stunning landmark inspired us to build bridges in a metaphorical sense: we build bridges to our guests.

We extend our bridge to you, bringing you closer to the mountains, to feel the warmth of sunshine on your skin, the wind in your hair and the soft ripple of the Ziller in your ears. To experience a living symbiosis between nature and architecture. Through all this, you will feel the magic of the Ziller Elf.
